Case Study: A Brand New Media Wall Fire in Widnes
When this Widnes customer first came to us, they knew they wanted a living space that felt ‘finished’.
Before our transformation, the room consisted only of a blank wall with a TV and exposed cables – practical, but it didn’t feel like a focal point. What they really wanted was a feature: something high-end and built-in without the disruption of building a real chimney breast.
With this brief, we arrived at a full media wall with an electric fire from Solus Fires (complete with an inset TV). From here, our team handled everything. We helped the customer choose the right style of fire and media wall layout.
To ensure the finished build would feel balanced, rather than bulky, we focused on getting the proportions right for the room and the TV.

Bespoke media wall
Once the fire was chosen, we built a bespoke media wall around it. The wall was constructed to recess both the fire and the TV into the same feature: the effect? The eye naturally lands on this area.
By drawing the television, fire and any audiovisual equipment together into one purpose-built unit, neither element has to compete for attention.
Done well, it instantly becomes the main feature of the lounge. We also provided space for cable management and media boxes so that everything could be hidden within the structure.
Installation
The installation stage is where the transformation really took place. As the framing went in and the fire was set at the perfect height, the room began to take shape. Instead of a standard flat wall, the customer now has architectural depth.
The electric fire sits lower in the feature to create that classic ‘hearth’ feeling, and the TV above is built-in at a comfortable viewing height rather than wall-mounted.
When we powered up the Vision Fires unit for the first time, it dispersed a warm, natural-looking glow across the lower half of the wall.
The end result
The final look is a living room that feels specifically designed for entertainment.
