Visualising a new media wall for your home? To give our customers a look at what a bespoke installation can achieve, we recently constructed a brand-new, custom media wall display in our Aintree showroom.
Designed to house a selection of our showroom-exclusive electric fires alongside flush-mounted screens, this project highlights every step of a build (completed by our team of trained professionals).
planning the layout
The key to a successful media wall is planning. Before the walls could be built, we structured the layout around the room itself: to this end, the design was mapped to feature four different electric fires.
Above each fire, custom recesses were measured to house the flat-screen TVs. Sizing these correctly during the layout phase was essential to ensuring the screens sit flush with the final plastered finish (hiding the brackets for a home-cinema effect).
Leading Brands
We are dedicated to ensuring that our products are sourced from all the leading manufacturers in the UK and Europe. All the fires we sell come with full Manufacturers Guarantees.
Building the media walls!
With the layout mapped out and the wiring routed, our team got started with the physical construction of the media wall. First, we erected a timber stud framework: a heavy-duty structural base necessary to support the weight of large TVs.
We then installed metal angle beads at the external corners around the TV recesses, alcoves, and fire openings. From here, the heating units were carefully slotted into their designated recesses.
British Fires New Forest 1900 & 1600
To deliver high-level luxury, we installed two models from the New Forest range: the 1600 and the larger 1900. At an expansive 1.9 meters wide, the New Forest 1900 is made for media walls.
Like all New Forest models, it uses patented Air Curtain Technology® to safely disperse heat, allowing the glass to sit completely flush.
The sheer width of the 1900 means you get to see more of British Fires’ ‘Deluxe Real Logs’, made from genuine, hand-scorched UK-sourced oak. Once the fire is turned on, you’ll see the brand’s award-winning LED flame technology spread across the fuel bed.
The 1600, while sharing the same exceptional technology as the 1900, has a smaller width of 1.6 meters.
It’s well-proportioned for standard-to-large living spaces, and this model is particularly useful for showing how a fireplace can be scaled to suit the size of the TV and the proportions of the wall.
Onyx Avita 160RW
The lighting and flame visuals of the Onyx Avita 160RW make it a mesmerising addition to our media wall corner.
Featuring realistic oak-effect logs, a glowing ember bed, and multiple flame visual effects, this appliance is fully configurable as a single-sided, two-sided, or three-sided panoramic fire.
Vision Fires Solus iX15
The Solus iX series, with its Truburn flame technology, stands out in this display.
If you’re looking for an appliance that simulates the things we love about authentic, wood-burning stoves (realistic flames that wrap naturally around the fuel bed), the Solus iX15 creates this illusion.
Its visuals, paired wth integrated sound effects and a unique log arrangement, make this model one to beat!
Lighting and finishing details
Once the main media wall structures were in place, the finishing details helped bring the displays together. Our team integrated discrete, warm LED strip lighting into the top of each alcove to highlight the lines of the plasterwork with a tiered wash of light.
To ground the installation, we laid warm, wood-effect flooring throughout the area, using organic textures to balance out the media walls.
The result
The finished display gave each appliance space to shine. Free of visible cables, recessing the TVs and the premium electric fires into our bespoke framework has allowed us to simulate a real, at-home set-up for visitors of our Aintree showroom.
